The De La Warr Pavilion was constructed in 1935 and designed by the architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff; considered by some to be in an Art Deco style. Some claim it to be the first major Modernist public building in Britain.
Built between 1936-38 and designed by Kenneth Dalgleish and Roger K Pullen, Marine Court is shaped to resemble the curved, stacked bridge front, deck and hull of The Queen Mary, which had begun transatlantic service in 1936.
